The Avon Tyres British GT Championship machines are split into 2 categories, GT3 and GTC, the FIA homologate all the GT3 cars and make adjustments through weight and other measures (engine restrictors, ride height etc.) using techniques pioneered by the GT1 category of the FIA GT Championship, to ensure a balance of performance between the various models. This allows for competition not just against those driving the same car, but also against other drivers at the wheel of cars from rival manufacturers to maximize the racing spectacle and put the emphasis on driver skill. The GTC machines are more road derivative built racing cars from one make championships such as the Porsche Cup and Ferrari Challenge with only limited tuning modifications allowed. |
